Summer Reset: Why Smart Women Rest

Let's face it: we often wait until we are running on fumes to take a break but this is the fast track to burnout. Even when we take a break physically through a vacation or with time off from work, we struggle to unplug mentally. We're still checking emails, planning meals, anticipating other's needs, and managing it all behind the scenes.

Let this summer be different.  Let it be a time for mental clarity, emotional balance, and reclaiming your priorities. In fact, the most powerful move you can make right now might not be doing more but doing less, on purpose.

I'll be honest with you. This morning, I caught myself in a familiar pattern: listening to a virtual conference, skimming emails, drafting web content, and already thinking about the next commitments I could add to my plate.

It hit me: I'm writing about the importance of rest while doing the exact thing I'm inviting you to shift. That was my wake-up call. Rest isn't something we have to earn. It's something we must prioritize. And when we do, we show up more grounded, focused, and alive.

So I'm inviting you (and me!) to pause, just for a moment, and reflect:

  1. What does rest actually look and feel like for me? What kind of rest (physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual) am I craving?
  2. Where am I saying "yes" out of obligation instead of alignment and what boundaries can I gently put in place to protect my energy this season?
  3. What steps can I take to design time off that restores me?
Taking time off is not a weakness-it's a strategy. This summer, choose yourself!
