Rekindling the Back-to-School Spirit

Do you remember the excitement of August when you were a child? The anticipation of new teachers, fresh notebooks, and the possibility of new friends filled the air with energy. It wasn't just about returning to school-it was about starting a new chapter, one filled with hope and wonder for what lay ahead.

As adults, we often lose that sense of anticipation. Our days can feel predictable, shaped by routines and full of obligations, leaving little space for fresh energy or excitement. What if we could reframe this time of year and invite the curiosity and excitement we once had into our lives now? August can be more than just another month-it can be our chance to intentionally create new opportunities and adventures.

Let this year be different.  Coaching is about perspective, and we have the power to shift ours. Instead of letting the calendar dictate our energy, we can choose to see the beginning of August as the exciting starting point for a new and wonderful year. What new experiences do we want to explore? What skills do we want to develop? What relationships do we want to deepen? By reframing our perspective, we can transform August into a month of purpose and possibility.

Here are five questions to help in reframing August:

  1. What feels possible for me if I approach this year with curiosity?
  2. Where in my life do I want to invite new experiences or growth?
  3. Which habits or routines can I refresh to support my goals?
  4. What is one bold action I can take to set the tone for the year ahead?
The energy of August is ours to claim! When we embrace it with hope and curiosity, we open ourselves up to the possibility of growth, joy, and new beginnings at any age.
